Meritage Homes Announces Closing of $200 Million Senior Unsecured Notes

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., April 13, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Meritage Homes Corporation (NYSE:MTH), one of America's top 10 homebuilders, today announced the closing and settlement of a private placement of $200 million aggregate principal amount of senior unsecured notes due April 15, 2020. The 7.15% notes are due April 15, 2020, and resulted in approximately $192 million in net proceeds to the Company. The notes were offered to qualified institutional buyers pursuant to Rule 144A under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended (the "Securities Act") and outside the United States to persons other than U.S. persons in reliance upon Regulation S under the Securities Act.

As announced on April 6, 2010, Meritage intends to use the net proceeds from the offering to repurchase or redeem all $130 million aggregate principal amount of its 7.00% Senior Notes due 2014, and to repurchase a portion of its 6.25% Senior Notes due 2015.
